Kane Veterinary Supplies Ltd. History

Established in 1969 by Dan and Cassy Kane, Kane Veterinary Supplies is a Canadian wholesale distributor and manufactures agent. Kane provides excellence in distribution of the highest quality, cutting edge, value-laden products to the veterinary, pet, agricultural and equine markets across Canada.

Today, Kane has two full-service branches – Edmonton, Alberta and Cambridge, Ontario – and one sales office in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Day-to-day inventory consists of over 12,000 items including vet supplies and pharmaceuticals, pet food and toys, animal ID products, and pest control items (see catalog for a complete line of products).

“A large part of our success is due to our diverse product selection – we offer items for the entire animal spectrum,” says Director of Canadian Operations, Steve Olsson. “This diversity is also displayed as a strength in our experienced staff members.”

Kane enjoys an excellent relationship with its local communities and donates to multiple charities, events and customer promotions. Stepping Stones is an organization in Edmonton that has benefited from the employees’ generosity. As a safehouse for children who have grown up in a difficult life setting, the staff fundraises to ensure these children receive the special attention that they deserve. “Stepping Stones holds a spot very close to our hearts,” says IS Manager Courtney Borle.

What the Future Holds…

In October 2007, Kane Veterinary Supplies Ltd. Joined the Animal Health International, Inc. family group of companies. Kane retained its name, management and employees. This opens a new chapter for Kane by offering access to an even wider range of products and services. The best is yet to come!
